Honda CBR125R - Superb Entry Level Sports Bike

Honda has unveiled the all new 2011 model of Honda CBR125R and has been launched worldwide but there are no plans that Honda India is going to launch CBR125R in India. Though if Honda launches the CBR125R then it is expected to be priced around Rs. 80,000.

Official press release of 2011 Honda CBR125R

The 125cc sportsbike class is where riding experiences begin. For the vast majority of new riders, whether on the road and on the race circuit, these machines are the first step on a path that could lead anywhere. For this reason 125cc sportsbikes have a huge responsibility. They must be just as rewarding to ride as bigger Supersports machines, particularly where engine power is less important, such as in town and on very twisty roads. They must be easy to ride too, patiently nurturing new riders and building their confidence on two wheels. If a 125cc sportsbike can put its rider at ease with the fundamentals of control then it has done its job.

Of course the perfect 125cc sportsbike is also huge fun to ride. Such machines are motorcycling’s first chance to capture a rider’s imagination; its opportunity to show just how exhilarating and rewarding riding can be, not to mention how much more practical it is as a means of travelling on today’s congested urban roads. This can only be achieved by offering a machine that’s designed from the ground up as a sportsbike – delivering the crisp responses and great performance young riders demand.

Reliability and low maintenance are all-important. Any rider’s first bike is likely to be called upon to perform a huge range of tasks, from weekend leisure riding or track days to weekday commuting. Absolute reliability must be a given, while low running costs and hassle-free ownership are also critical. Ideally, it should also offer a comfortable pillion seat, allowing a rider to share the fun with friends.

Since its introduction in 2004 the CBR125R has represented the ideal first sportsbike. Compact, lightweight and blessed with the refinement, ease of use and welcoming handling that have become synonymous with the CBR family, it has become a popular machine with young riders the world over. But the time has come for a more sophisticated 125cc sportsbike, a 125 with the ‘feel’ more often associated with bigger machines. For 2011 the all-new CBR125R is ready to prove itself as the perfect first sportsbike for a new generation of riders.

Development concept

The 2011 CBR125R has been designed to offer exciting and performance led riding dynamics, giving young riders the opportunity to develop sports riding skills from the very earliest days of their careers, but also, designed to offer more seasoned riders a fun and economical daily commuter machine.

The existing CBR125R is an enormously popular motorcycle, one that has schooled a generation of riders. But while its small size is a tremendous asset in many instances, guaranteeing easy handling, a low weight and the ability to slice through urban traffic, the demand has emerged for a 125cc machine that is in every way a full-sized performance bike. Honda’s response to this demand is a new small-capacity bike with big ambitions – the 2011 CBR125R.

The brief was simple: to create a 125cc sportsbike with the look and feel of a bigger and more expensive machine. The new sportsbike had to retain the current CBR125R’s user-friendly handling characteristics and free-revving single-cylinder engine, but package them inside all-new bodywork with the sophisticated styling and full-size proportions demanded by the modern young sports rider. It was decided too that wider, more impressive wheel and tyre sizes should be specified, enhancing handling while also helping create the feel of a much bigger motorcycle. Finally, the latest advances in fuel injection and catalyser technology would make the 2011 CBR125R more efficient than its predecessor.

Main features

- Powerful, reliable and fuel-efficient 124.7cm3 liquid-cooled, single-Lightweight cylinder engine with PGM-FI fuel injection.
- Diamond twin-spar steel frame with sporty geometry for intuitive and exciting handling.
- Comfortable yet involving riding position and low kerb weight (136.9kg) make for a very manageable and easy to handle 125cc sportsbike.
- Wide 130/70-17M/C rear tyre for a thrilling riding experience and Supersports style.
- Advanced multi-function digital instrument display.
- Striking full fairing cowl

Outstanding manoeuvrability

The CBR name is synonymous with superb handling at any speed, and the new CBR125R is no exception. Despite its slightly larger overall dimensions, the 2011 machine remains extraordinarily easy to handle, immediately giving new riders the confidence they need. Key to the CBR’s manoeuvrability is its riding position, which is designed around the low 793mm seat. The location of the handlebars and footpegs has been revised for improved control while maintaining outstanding rider comfort. Together with the contoured new fuel tank, which is bigger on the new machine for improved range, the result is an unmistakably sporty but easygoing riding position. The rider’s weight is distributed evenly, creating a posture that isn’t tiring to maintain and that doesn’t in any way restrict movement.

Superb chassis balance

The 2011 CBR125R boasts a competitively low kerb weight of just 136.9kg. This mass is distributed perfectly between the front and rear wheels in a 49:51 weight distribution, while the compact single-cylinder engine helps keep the centre of gravity low. The result is a machine that feels instantly manageable, regardless of a rider’s height or stature, so the rider feels completely in control.

Full fairing cowl

The CBR125R’s dramatic new full fairing is more than a mere styling exercise. By providing protection from windblast, the fairing makes the rider more comfortable, particularly over long-distance journeys which can affect riders of Naked machines. The fairing also features a powerful one-piece headlight and bright taillight for superb visibility at night.

New digital instruments

Digital instrumentation is now commonplace on large-capacity machines. For 2011 the CBR125R underlines its big-bike credentials by adopting this technology. The result is a thoroughly modern rider’s eye-view, with speed, engine revs and engine temperature all visible at a glance. The display also includes a six-segment fuel gauge, a clock and an odometer/trip meter.

Passenger comfort

Grab handles on either side of the rear seat provide the sense of security so crucial to passenger comfort, leaving rider and pillion free to enjoy the ride.

Styling

As you’d expect of a machine with a presence beyond its modest engine size, the 2011 CBR125R has an all-new full fairing cowl. The racy yet sophisticated new look is typically CBR, with clean lines inspired by 600cc and 1000cc Supersports machines but developed into a unique style.

The new single headlight design sets the tone for the rest of the fairing, being both original in shape and suggestive of much more expensive motorcycles. From there the fairing quickly tapers rearward to a slim and sporty tail unit. Since the compact new exhaust system finishes ahead of the rear axle, the back of the machine appears to float above the purposefully wide new rear tyre, creating a dynamic forward-biased silhouette.

Engine

Like the previous CBR125R, the 2011 model uses a powerful single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The single-cylinder configuration boasts many advantages over a twin-cylinder engine of the same capacity, most noticeably lighter weight, smaller dimensions, improved fuel economy and mechanical simplicity.

Developing a peak power figure of 9.38kW at 10,000rpm and a peak torque figure of 10.1Nm at just 8000rpm, the CBR125R has the performance to make every ride a joy, whether it’s commuting to work or college or riding open roads for sheer pleasure.

Honda’s advanced PGM-FI system is key to the CBR125R’s clean-revving and manageable performance. The system’s Electronic Control Unit works with the electronic ignition to provide exactly the right fuel/air mix to the cylinder for any given combination of throttle position and engine revs. The result is a smooth power curve delivered with the accuracy and predictability needed to breed rider confidence. New FI settings also make the engine more fuel efficient.

Few engines in motorcycling are more rugged or affordable to run than the CBR125R’s liquid-cooled single. The electric start means the machine is ready to go at the push of a button, while its outstanding efficiency means superb fuel economy delivering an impressive range from the slim and compact 13-litre fuel tank. Because the fuel tank can be smaller for a given range, in turn this helps create a lighter and more compact motorcycle. The superb fuel economy betters the previous model thanks to a revised final drive ratio and new fuel injection settings. The new bike is also easier to look after – for 2011 the filter that supplies clean fuel to the fuel injection system has been moved outside the fuel tank to make maintenance simpler.

Slick six-speed transmission

The CBR125R uses a mechanically actuated clutch for fine control and a light feel at the clutch lever. The transmission’s six ratios complement the engine’s flexible power delivery perfectly, giving the CBR125R the performance that riders demand.

New ultra-clean exhaust

The 2011 CBR125R features a new exhaust system incorporating an oxygen sensor and a Tri-metal catalytic converter. The catalyser all but eliminates the emission of polluting hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrous oxides, ensuring the CBR125R easily complies with emissions legislation. Emissions are further reduced at source by the PGM-FI system, which analyses the exhaust gases via the oxygen sensor to maintain the air/fuel ratio at the ideal for clean combustion.

Lightweight frame

The CBR125R uses a lightweight pentagonal-section steel twin-spar frame. The design is a proven one, linking the critical areas of the headstock and the swingarm pivot point using a straight and unbroken spar on both sides of the engine. The design delivers the rigidity required of a sportsbike frame while also being light and compact.

The chassis feel of the CBR125R treads a line between the swift responses required of a Supersports machine and the reassuring predictability that develops rider confidence. The wheelbase is one of the shortest in its class at just 1313mm, ensuring the CBR125R flicks through bends with a fluidity and grace none of its rivals can match. However a trail figure of 90mm means this thrilling agility never threatens to cause instability. In short the CBR125R is ready for anything, from super-smooth open roads to the traffic-packed and bumpy challenge of the city.

Sophisticated suspension

Control and a superb ride feel are guaranteed by the CBR125R’s premium suspension components. The front wheel is controlled by a 31mm hydraulic telescopic fork, while the rear tubular steel swingarm mounts to a Monoshock for sporty control and exceptional comfort. While in its element on the kind of smooth and twisting roads Supersports machines of all sizes revel in, the CBR125R also has the chassis sophistication to remain stable and comfortable on rougher back roads.

Big-bike wheels, tyres and brakes

In line with the new brief, the 2011 CBR125R uses tyres and wheels of a size more commonly associated with the 250cc class. The lightweight new 100/80-17 front and 130/70-17 rear cast wheels use a striking five-spoke design and bring both stability and increased grip. They also underline the CBR125R’s full-sized credentials. They are slowed by equally impressive braking systems, with powerful disc brakes front and rear. The front brake uses a 276mm disc gripped by a twin-piston caliper, while at the rear a 220mm disc and single-piston caliper offer the accuracy and feel that make low-speed manoeuvres easy.

Press Release - Honda CBR600F

In 2001 the CBR600F Sport recognised that, for some riders, racetrack performance takes priority over practicality on the road. That bike pushed the CBR further from its all-rounder DNA than ever before, a shift completed in 2003 with the introduction of the first CBR600RR – an all-new motorcycle dedicated to the ruthless domination of the world’s racetracks. But for 2011 the concept of total control returns with a new middleweight machine.

For the new CBR600F Honda engineers were assigned the task of combining the timeless qualities of the total control concept with the very latest motorcycle technology. In other words, create a CBR600F true to the ideals of its predecessors. It offers the neutral handling, near-Supersport levels of performance and the refinement and practicality so vital to the CBR’s appeal. These qualities are combined with the rider and passenger comfort traditionally denoted by the ‘F’ in its name.

The CBR600RR could have been re-engineered to this new purpose, but why compromise such a single-minded machine? Instead the new CBR600F took as its start-point a compact all-alloy 599cc engine and Mono-Backbone aluminium frame. This high performance core package was then painstakingly developed to meet the new brief – to create a high performance 21st century road bike with the accessibility that has always defined the CBR600F.

Development concept of Honda CBR600F

In recent years the middleweight motorcycle market has diversified considerably, with many new models offering practicality and reasonable performance together with value for money. At the same time development of the Supersports concept has seen those bikes become increasingly extreme, with less thought for day-to-day practicality. Instead they are characterised by focused riding positions and highly tuned engines dedicated to the production of useable but top-end power.

Between these two classes of motorcycle – middleweight Naked and Supersports – there exists the demand for a machine that combines the best aspects of both. A motorcycle with much of the exciting style and riding excitement of a Supersports bike, but with enough comfort and practicality to make weekday chores and commuting a pleasure. Honda’s response to this demand is a new motorcycle for 2011 that marks the return of a legendary concept: CBR600F.

The new CBR600F is a carefully honed package developed to satisfy a wide range of motorcyclists, from new licence holders keen to develop their riding skills to highly experienced riders who have owned such machines and now want something more comfortable and road-focused. The stunning design of the CBR600F will also appeal to riders who love the track-bred look of the CBR600RR but cannot justify its unflinching focus on performance. And, being based on the hugely versatile chassis and engine package of the CB600F Hornet, the CBR600F will also attract riders who demand everyday comfort from their motorcycle. Because for all its performance and style, the CBR600F is also a desirable bike to own and to live with, offering outstanding reliability and fuel economy.

Ergonomic design

The most rewarding riding experiences are defined by an unspoken understanding between the rider and the motorcycle; a confidence that the machine will respond to the rider’s inputs instantly and accurately. The riding position has been specifically designed to create an intimate connection between rider and machine for a feeling of total control.

Balanced riding position

The CBR600F riding position combines relaxed ergonomics with a level of integration and control usually reserved for Supersports machines. Thanks to the careful sculpting of the surrounding bodywork, the 800mm seat height is comfortable for a wide range of riders. In turn the handlebars are set higher on the CBR600F than they are on most Supersport machines, taking weight off the rider’s wrists and ensuring day-long comfort together with an enhanced feeling of control when manoeuvring at low speeds. Together the seat, handlebars and footpegs create a riding position that is both comfortable and confidence inspiring.

Full fairing

A full fairing, sculpted equally by the heart of the style-conscious designer and the head of the engineer, also plays its part in the bike’s considered ergonomic package. It protects the rider from windblast while also contributing to a low drag coefficient.

Considered passenger comfort

Passenger comfort is integral to the versatile character of the CBR600F. The pillion seat is bigger and more deeply padded than is the case on Supersports machines. It is also lower and closer to the rider, which makes climbing on and off easier and helps passengers feel more comfortable once on the move. Specially designed recesses on the underside of the tail unit further enhance this sense of security by providing points of contact for the passenger to hold. These help make the CBR600F an accomplished pillion machine without resorting to conventional grab handles, which affect the look of a bike when riding solo.

Low kerb weight

The advanced engine and chassis solutions help deliver a low kerb weight, an attribute that brings with it a raft of advantages, from improved acceleration and agile handling at any speed to confidence when undertaking low-speed manoeuvres.

Supersport inspiration, timeless style

The Supersport look is the most dynamic in motorcycling and the CBR600F takes the stunning lines associated with Supersport bikes and develops them into an exciting new design language that perfectly fits the CBR600F brief – race inspired but focused on the road. The full fairing – a defining feature of the CBR600F since the very first model – has sculpted surfaces that combine clean lines with a multi-layer look that hints at the depth of engineering within. At the rear of the bike the high tail gives the machine an athletic stance on the road.

Designed in Honda’s Rome studio, the CBR600F was shaped by chief designer Valerio Aiello. “We wanted to create a design that will remain attractive for a long time, not just for a year or two,” explains Valerio. “The bike has the speedy proportions of a Supersport bike but there is also a timeless elegance to the new CBR600F. Key to this is the multi-layer design of the fairing, which brings a visual richness to the bike. At the same time the positive and negative surfaces of the fairing create strong, dynamic lines inspired by the sophisticated style of premium British sports cars. Overall we wanted to create a strong single shape, like a piece of sculpture. I think of the finished design like a cobra ready to attack; compact, fluid and full of dynamic potential.”

Instead of the twin headlights common to Supersport bikes, the new CBR600F uses an advanced one-piece headlight design with cool blue lenses for the position lights. The headlight design flows into the screen to give an original and classy look to the front of the bike. “I am very proud of this area of the design,” says Valerio. “It was a challenge to create a sporty look with a single headlight but we did it. The headlight itself is nicely detailed, and the blue lenses for the position lights are a cool touch, again inspired by luxury sports cars. The headlight and screen combine to create a striking transparent surface that helps give the bike a lightweight feeling.”

Modern, comprehensive instrument display

The rider’s view ahead is dominated by the stunning digital instrument panel. This combines a digital speedometer with an easy-to-read digital tachometer, letting the rider check speed and engine revs at a glance. Backing up these primary displays are dual trip gauges, an odometer, a highly accurate multi-segment fuel gauge and a digital clock. As befits a multi-role sportsbike that’s as likely to be found flitting through traffic-packed city streets on the daily commute as it is chasing excitement on the open road, the instruments also include an instantaneous fuel efficiency display and average fuel efficiency and fuel consumption functions for Trip A.

Available colour schemes

Pearl Cool White/Hyper Red
The first and sportiest of the 2011 CBR600F colour concepts calls to mind Honda’s incredible racing heritage, combining an eye-catching bright red with a cool, clean white to stunning effect. Minimalist graphics accentuate the aggressive styling without complicating the carefully sculpted surfaces that are key to the bike’s visual appeal.

Pearl Cool White/Moody Blue Metallic
Another timeless colour concept, the cool white/blue option available on the new CBR600F will appeal to trendy riders with an eye for style. Like the other two colouring concepts, the relationship between the two contrasting colours accentuates the stunning multi-layer fairing design.

Pearl Nightstar Black/Matt Cynos Grey Metallic
The final colour concept offers a moody alternative, combining contrasting gloss and matt surfaces to stunning effect. The sultry palette of black and grey perfectly fits with the bike’s personality, cutting a confident and understated dash in any environment.

The CBR600F’s DOHC inline-4 engine was originally developed alongside the 2007 CBR600RR’s power unit and is also found in the CB600F Hornet. It is tuned for an ultra-broad spread of power and a lightning-fast yet predictable throttle response. Regardless of gear and engine revs, the ultra-smooth unit delivers exactly the amount of drive the rider asks for. Strong, instantly accessible torque is available from very low revs, ensuring absolute control regardless of speed or road surface. The CBR600F delivers 75kW at 12,000rpm and an extremely smooth and glitch-free power curve. The result is an engine that satisfies on every level, offering both the civility and ease-of-use demanded by the novice while also satisfying the most experienced riders with its impressive performance.

Mass centralised

As befits such an important part of a uniquely balanced machine, the CBR600F engine is an integral part of the chassis package. Its race breeding is obvious in its low weight and compact dimensions. The unit’s low weight helps trim the bike’s all-important kerb weight figure to a minimum, a key factor in the bike’s exceptionally easy handling at any speed. At the same time, the engine’s compact size gave Honda engineers free reign to position it perfectly within the chassis, for an ideal front/rear weight distribution and neutral handling feel. Because the engine itself is so small, other components such as the fuel tank and exhaust can be tightly packaged around it, further centralising the mass and benefiting handling.

Fuel injected

The engine’s impressive combination of performance and refinement is due in no small part to the advanced PGM-FI electronic fuel injection system. The bike’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) works in conjunction with the engine’s digital electronic ignition to ensure accurate fuelling. The benefits are startling performance, a flawless throttle response and low fuel consumption.

Environmentally responsible

With an accurate fuel injection system, the CBR600F is remarkably economical for such a high-revving and powerful engine. The result is superb range from the fuel tank, saving time and money. The engine is also reliable, having been proven over hundreds of thousands of road and race miles. It also requires very little maintenance, helping make the CBR600F ownership experience hassle-free and rewarding.

Chassis details

The driving concept of total control placed unique demands on the CBR600F chassis, asking that it perform flawlessly in a huge range of riding scenarios. The qualities of low weight, easy handling and sophisticated suspension are universal, and it is these three key attributes that underpin the chassis of the CBR600F.

Mono-Backbone frame

The engine is bolted into the die-cast aluminium frame to create the basis of a light, slim and compact machine. The Mono-Backbone’s lightweight but rigid diamond configuration incorporates the engine as an integral part of the frame itself, using the engine’s inherent strength to further boost chassis integrity for no additional weight penalty. The aluminium frame is manufactured in three sections using Honda’s advanced gravity die-cast procedure, which allows engineers to accurately tune the structure for the perfect blend of rigidity and rider feel.

Neutral CBR handling

The motorcycle is concentrated around the core created by the engine and frame, creating a mass-centralised package that behaves intuitively at any speed. Reducing inertial mass at the machine’s most extreme points in this way brings huge benefits to the handling. As a result the CBR600F changes direction effortlessly, while also offering superb stability and cornering control.

Sporty geometry

Because the engine and chassis are so compact, the CBR600F can combine the long swingarm required for sure-footed handling with one of the shortest wheelbase figures in its class, 1437mm. Supersports-derived chassis geometry backs up the bike’s credentials as a genuine contender on even the most demanding roads.

Adjustable front and rear suspension

At the front, the 41mm inverted HMAS cartridge-type front fork gives unrivalled rider confidence, effortlessly soaking up imperfections in the road surface while also providing the feedback that is essential to rider comfort when cornering. The damping and spring rates are unique to the CBR600F, as are the characteristics of the rear Monoshock. Compared to the CBR600RR compression damping is decreased, for better bump absorption, while the tension damping is increased for enhanced control of the unsprung mass. Using the spring preload and tension damping adjusters the rider can also tailor the fork’s behaviour specifically to suit the way they ride.

The result is a front end that delivers on the promise of total control. The rear suspension system consists of a tapered dual box-section aluminium swingarm controlled by a Monoshock damper. Tension and spring preload adjusters on the Monoshock let the rider alter its precise characteristics to suit their weight and tastes, while a dual rate spring optimises touring comfort. Together these cutting edge suspension systems provide an inspirational handling feel while also ensuring the CBR600F never loses its cool, however rough the roads.

Race-derived wheels and sophisticated braking systems

The CBR600F rides on lightweight cast aluminium wheels, which contribute to the bike’s low kerb weight while also reducing unsprung mass, directly benefiting the ride quality and ease of handling. Tyre sizes are unmistakably Supersport: 120/70-R17 at the front and 180/55-R17 at the rear. Strong and consistent braking performance is provided by a pair of 296mm floating discs with dual-piston calipers at the front. At the rear a 240mm disc and a single-piston caliper offer both stopping power and the fine control required for low-speed manoeuvring.

Combined ABS CBR600F

The CBR600F is equipped with Combined ABS, featuring an advanced Antilock Braking System. Combined ABS links the front brake control to the rear brake, ensuring smooth, progressive and powerful deceleration in all situations. The system’s ECU monitors the speeds of the front and rear wheels using sensors. Should one wheel begin to rotate more slowly than the other, suggesting the first hint of tyre slip, the Combined Braking System modulates the braking effort to ensure full grip is retained, maximising braking ability while retaining control.

Standard Equipment

Honda Ignition Security System (HISS) -Fitted as standard to the CBR600F, the Honda Ignition Security System is an electronic security measure that makes the bike impossible to start without one of the two original keys. Without one of those keys the ignition system remains completely immobilised, preventing hot-wiring and ride-away theft.

Antilock Braking System - Honda has introduced ABS systems throughout its motorcycle range. The Combined ABS on the CBR600F will appeal to novice and advanced riders alike while effectively broadening the bike’s multi-purpose versatility still further.

Honda CBR600RR

Honda CBR600RR Review and Images

Expected Price

Rs. 7,00,000

The CBR600RR was developed from and inspired by the Honda RC211V MotoGP bike. The similar physical appearance of the CBR600RR and RC211V is intentional. Underneath the looks lie MotoGP technologies that were made available for the first time on a production motorcycle such as the Unit Pro-Link rear suspension and Dual Stage Fuel Injection (PGM-DSFI). Both were taken directly from Honda's MotoGP bike.

While it's not uncommon for street bikes to utilize racing technology, this was the first time totally new technologies found their way to the production line the same year they made their way to the professional racing grid. The bike receives the "RR" designation for "race replica" because of its emphasis on racing characteristics such as an advanced braced swingarm, center-up exhaust system, and more aggressive riding position.

The old Honda CBR600RR really lacked midrange between 7000rpm to 10,000rpm but the new Honda CBR600RR has had an injection of midrange which makes it punchier. You really notice the extra drive out of slow to medium corners. At the top end Honda have only managed to strain a few more bhp, that should bring it up to speed with the competition.

Honda means quality and the older Honda CBR600RR seemed bullet proof. Even slightly tuned, poorly maintained race motors seem to last, even when they are thrashed week in and week out. Honda has shortened the wheelbase and tightened up the steering to make the Honda CBR600RR far sharper. Combine that with the reduction in weight and it all makes the new Honda CBR600RR a formidable track tool.

It steers so well, you can really flick the motorcycle around and there so much feedback from the front tyre you can carry loads of brake into the turn. The Honda CBR600RR's MotoGP styling is sleek in the flesh and typical Honda build quality runs all the way through. The suspension is fully adjustable front and rear and you can feel every half turn or click.

Honda Interceptor VFR800

Honda Interceptor VFR800 Review and Images

Expected Price

Rs. 8,00,000

Honda's Interceptor also known as the VFR800-is one of those enduring machines that continues to sell well. Since its ground-breaking debut in 1983 as a cutting-edge sportbike, the Interceptor has been steadily softened and rounded in subsequent generations from its original hard-core premise, while other Honda models took up the all-out performance corporate sword. The front fairing features angular lines and integrated headlights and signal lights in a successful attempt to provide the Interceptor with a more than fair share of modernity.

Also, they keep it distinct from the CBR models by implementing a simple side fairing design with only those cooling snips as an aggressive touch and a VFR and implicit Interceptor characteristic. Furthermore, the five-spoke rear wheels bolted on a single-sided swingarm is yet another distinctive note as well as the under seat exhaust built around the right rider side of the bike’s rear wheel.

Overall compact and aggressive, but retaining the sport-touring riding position with a wide, spacious seat and close by footpegs and handlebars, the VFR800 Interceptor is a successful combination of styles visually, so imagine how it is to actually ride the thing.

Main Features of Honda VFR800 Interceptor:

  • Unique center-up exhaust system incorporates two stainless-steel mufflers tucked beneath the Interceptor’s tail section.
  • Large-diameter 43mm Honda Multi-Action System cartridge front fork provides enhanced handling under all riding conditions.
  • Linked Braking System.
  • Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) available as an option.
  • Four brilliant multireflector headlights.

In the VFR800, the VTEC essentially means the engine transforms from a eight-valve to a 16-valve unit, depending on whether it's below or above 7000rpm, and offering a choice between maximum power or maximum economy. Throw in the latest generation DCBS, fuel injection and Honda's HISS security ignition, and it's easy to see this is truly a motorcycle of the 21st century.
